Lay Claretian Movement
Our Identity
Lay Claretians are Christians who are striving to make our own the mission of Jesus in the world. Living the demands of the kingdom, and always within the framework of our lay identity offering a service of evangelization in the Church, according to the Chartism and spirit of St. Antony Mary Claret.
We take St. Antony Mary Claret as our inspiration and father, and together with the institutes he founded, make up the Claretian Family.( Lay Claretian Source book and Statutes)
Lay Claretian Movement in SS Joseph and Claret Church.
Being a parish run by the Claretian Fathers and St. Antony Mary Claret, being the Co Patron of this parish, we have started Lay Claretian Movement, an International Lay pious Association in our parish too.
It is in the pursuit of Spiritual growth with prayers. The members of this movement join on every 3rd Sunday of the month for Adoration, Rosary followed by study of the Word of God.
The Members of this group help in the Church activities in various ways for the Spiritual formation of the Youth, Children and the Elders. They also collaborate with Mathrujyothi, the Association of mothers in the Parish. The Lay Claretian Day is celebrated every year. We also visit families of sick people in our parish and pray for them. A day is set apart for outreach programs by way of visiting orphanages or destitute homes. We also visit Claretian houses and missions in order to know more about the Claretian way of life and the mission. We are yet to make any link with the movement across the globe.
In order to spread the devotion to St. Anthony Mary Claret, the patron of the cancer patients, the Lay Claretians had distributed laminated photo of St. Claret to every family in our Parish. The members of this movement also actively participate in the novena to St. Claret, conducted at our church every Sunday. The names of the cancer patients who seek the prayers of this parish are referred to with intercession during the novena. The testimonies of Cancer patients getting cured through the intercession of St. Claret is received frequently in our church. We are happy to note that the membership of the movement is growing with encouragement from the parish priest and the Claretian Congregation.
We also cordially welcome all elders of the parish to be the part of Lay Claretian Movement and help the Parish to grow spiritually.
